Palmistry And The Inner Self
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publishing (February, 1996)
Author: Ray Douglas
Average review score:

A Great Get -to- Know Yourself Book ! Fun and Informative
Douglas does an excellent job in explaining the art of palm reading. He provides the reader with examples and interpretations that the reader can relate to. The easy to use reference area in the back enables the reader to see the various lines, islands, and planets with brief yet informative explanations all in one section of the book. The hand illustrations in the book are a great aid when it comes to trying to locate a certain feature on your own hand or someone else's hand. Reading this book will not instantly make you an expert palm reader, but it will enlighten you on the world of palmistry, and it will enable you to hopefully better understand your inner self.

Papers Please!: Identity Documents, Permits and Authorizations of the Third Reich
Published in Hardcover by U.S.M. (June, 1996)
Authors: Ray Cowdery and Josephine Cowdery
Average review score:

Old Brandy
This study of the arcane field of identification documents in the Third Reich is a remarkably solid and detailed contribution to its subject. The book is produced on photographic plate paper and the illustrations of the various examples-the German Army Soldbuecher, the Wehrmacht Drivers' Licenses, the Arbeitsbuecher (Employment Idenfication Documents), the Hunting Permits, the members-artists, actors, composers, puppeteers! of the Reichskulturkammer, the German Red Cross IDs-are lavishly illustrated and expertly glossed and elucidated. One example concerns the Soldbuch of which the joint authors, Ray and Josephine Cowdery, write as follows: "While American and English speakers would probably assume a 'Soldbuch' to be a 'pay book' in which a solder's monthly pay was recorded, the name Soldbuch in German is applied to the authority itself; in other words, the holder of a Soldbuch had the authority to draw pay. Little or no 'pay' was ever recorded in it in most cases." The authors travelled in the old German Democratic Republic, observed that every time they "crossed the border we entered a perceptible time warp in identity documentation. The East German police were operating their border crossing stations according to policies and procedures that had been established during the Third Reich." Highly recommended for the buff, the collector, and all those with a taste for what C.P. Snow once termed "old brandy"-the rare, the off-beat and the esoteric.

Parallel Utopias: The Quest for Community
Published in Hardcover by Chronicle Books (November, 1995)
Authors: Richard Sexton, Ray Oldenburg, and Jr. Turnbull
Average review score:

TWO UNIQUE COMMUNITIES
Dream homes in ideal communities are the subjects of this work. Sea Ranch, California and Seaside, Florida are two communities that have similar goals: to provide an environment that can enrich the lives of the residents. Two different approaches are examined. Sea Ranch is inspired by country life and the nature while Seaside is more of an urban experience set to accomodate people rather than the automobile. Both communities include "dream homes" although styles are markedly different because of climate, natural environment and regional styles.

Photography and graphics are first rate.

Pentecostal Preaching
Published in Paperback by Pathway Press (August, 1983)
Author: Ray H. Hughes
Average review score:

A must Read
Pentecostal Preaching is a must read for anyone seeking more fulfilling Christian service. While it is not a "how to" book it is filled with motivational and inspirational thought. As one reads the book he/she may find that things that have happened in his or her ministry of preaching or teaching that did not make perfect sense at the time seems to come alive in these pages as a confirmation of Gods work in their life. If you are allowing God to use you at your fullest potential, you will find the book leading you into deeper areas of service and encouraging you to stay on course. If there is something lacking in your life, Dr. Hughes challenges you to find it and let God lead! Again, anyone, teacher, preacher, layperson that wants to move forward with God should read this book.

Ray-tracing with sense
The best book I've ever read about raytracing. Just read it all and end with a complete raytracer you can easily extend and adapt to your needs. If you are wondering how photoralistic ray-traced images are done, you should read this book! Cheers Christopher Watkins, for a great job!

Pierced by a Ray of Sun : Poems About the Times We Feel Alone
Published in Library Binding by Harpercollins Juvenile Books (April, 1995)
Author: Ruth Gordon
Average review score:

Interesting
As it happens, I was indeed alone as I read the poems in this book. A mixed bag, indeed. However, in the final analysis, there are a handful of astonishing pieces and not a true clinker in the bunch.

Pine Trees and Cotton Fields: Reminiscences of a Childhood Ne Texas-Nw Louisiana 1925-1942
Published in Hardcover by Piney Woods Productions (January, 1991)
Author: Janie R. Koenig
Average review score:

A window to a past that was in a hard, yet gentler, time
A book that will take you back to the times of youth and rekindle the images that were buried with childhood. A facinating glimpse into the life and times of growing up in rural America and of "roots" from which we all spring. I truly enjoyed its comingling of the reality of growing ups happy tales and sad tales and the images they brought to my own mind about my youth.

Well worth the price - especially considering the welcome suprise on opening which was a copy signed by the author!
